A Study in Soap

Welcome to A Study in Soap; home to the random and overall unimportant musings of a 22-year-old Film and TV Production graduate looking for somewhere to ramble about her opinions and offer her two-pence on all things soap.

Now, even I will admit that I don't actually watch all the soaps. In fact, I only watch EastEnders and Emmerdale. But safe to say, I still check the gossip forums to keep up-to-date with the goings-on in Corrie and Hollyoaks. As for our Australian and American cousins, perhaps I'll get into them one day.

An important thing to note is that 10 of the posts on my blog were written for a university assignment (a blog on current issues in television which I tailored towards soaps) and which I uploaded in November 2019, but which are listed under their correct dates (Nov '18 - March '19). These posts are a little more formal in tone and all begin with a disclaimer explaining that they were written for uni.

Here on A Study in Soap I'll be sharing my thoughts on British Soapland past & present and the soap opera as a genre. So hopefully this blog will become a critical shrine to all things camp, catty and cliched!
